Handmade wooden chessboard with burned grid lines Handmade ocean-themed resin lamp with turquoise resin and wood

Hello and welcome to my creative corner

If you do not know me yet: I am Griet.
Mom of two wonderful children, a teacher with heart and soul, and someone who loves making things all the time.

Since January 2020, I have been working 4/5. Before that, I worked full-time, but I felt things had to change. Between being a mom, managing the household, my job in education (which has only become more intense), and all the creative ideas constantly bubbling up, full-time work was simply no longer realistic.

That decision gave me more room.
Room to slow down.
Room to create new things.

For me, being creative is not just a hobby. It is my way to relax, clear my mind, and recharge at the same time. And actually, creativity runs like a red thread through everything I do, including my job.

As a teacher, I design my own courses, build projects, and keep looking for ways to make learning creative, visual, and hands-on. That same drive to invent new things and approach things differently is exactly what you will also find here on my blog.

This blog once started from my love for sewing, but it has grown together with me over time. In recent years, I have experimented and learned so much. Today, my main focus is working with wood, resin, and designing and making jewelry. I love working with my hands, feeling materials, and creating things.

But…
I am still someone with many (too many) interests.

I draw, paint, craft, design, test new materials, try new techniques, and often start several (again, too many) projects at the same time. My husband sometimes says I have too many hobbies. I call it healthy curiosity and the urge to keep creating.

The one thing I consistently do not have enough of? Time.

With two children, a household, and a job in education that requires a lot of preparation, daily blogging is not always realistic. I really do my best to share regularly, but sometimes things are quiet here for a while. If that happens, know that I am busy behind the scenes with a new project, a new course, or a creative idea that still needs time to grow.

My dream? One day, to have my own creative place (bigger than my desk). Maybe a small hobby shop, maybe workshops, maybe something completely different. A place where people can find inspiration, learn techniques, and simply create and learn without pressure.

Until then, this blog is my creative outlet.
My collection of ideas.
My growth story.

From time to time, you will find links here to products I use. I always honestly mention where I bought something and what I think about it. Some links are affiliate links. That means I receive a small commission when you buy through that link, at no extra cost to you. This helps me keep testing new materials and keep growing in what I do. Transparency matters to me, so I am happy to be clear about that.

But above all, this is simply my place to share what I make and what inspires me.

You are welcome here.
Feel free to stay a while.
And get inspired.

Enjoy reading 🤍
