This holiday I had to look for a hobby that did not take up too much space and that I could easily take with me when traveling. It was quite a search, but I ended up with my pearl/bead hobby.

I used to do a lot of this and have made countless necklaces, bracelets and rings. I tried different techniques for this. Here you can see some examples I made with the technique I used.

Only examples from my collection:

On the right you see a cellini spiral bracelet, with this technique you sew each bead on separately in a tube shape. A very time-consuming activity but not difficult.

I made the bracelet with this tutorial. I’ll try to translate it later 😉

On the left are 2 different necklaces crocheted with beads. To do this, you first need to string enough beads onto your wire in the correct order (about 4m). Then you need to hook them together in a tube shape. This is really not easy. Especially grit your teeth to string all those beads without making any mistakes. I will go into more detail about this in my next post as this was the type of necklace I opted for again this holiday.

Above you see a bridal necklace that I made in the “coraling technique”, which I called bobbin lace with pearls, as it were. It became a real gem when it was finished.

I just finished this last chain and it’s called the Russian spiral. A series of beads are sewn together in a tube shape each time.

There are many techniques for creating jewelry with pearls. If you google it you will come across 1000’s of examples. But because of this you sometimes can’t see the trees for the forest.

In the beginning I looked up a lot of techniques and tried tutorials to achieve these results. Even get some nice e-books for free. I also want to incorporate all of this into my blog to help you get started.

Hopefully I can teach you something or help you on your way in my next posts.
