As I’ve mentioned before, the Cameo is a super versatile machine. Now the Cameo 4 (with built-in roll holder, …) and 4 PRO (with much larger cutting range) are also available. You can literally do anything with it. Print T-shirts with flex, make stickers, make gift boxes, make cards, …
I would like to come back to this last point. You all know the problem: it’s someone’s birthday, it’s New Year’s, Christmas, a death, … and you don’t have the right card at home. This is a problem I haven’t had in years. I buy blank cards in Action, Hema or any hobby store and then you can get started.
The pen holder
The simplest thing is to work with the Silhouette pen holder and your own stylos or markers.

On the left you see the pen holder with the attachments Small, Medium (already in the holder) and large. Which attachment you choose depends on the thickness of your pencil or pen.
On the right you see the pen holder open and the pen holder with a papermate gel pen in.
It is very important that you DO NOT throw away the small cap! You need this cap!
When you put your gel pen or marker or something else in your pen holder, the small cap acts as a stopper.

The tip of your pen should touch the cap, but not push it up. By placing the cap on your pen holder and pushing it into place, the pen will automatically move into the right place. This way you won’t get any lines on your paper.
Don’t forget to tighten your attachment so that the pin is secured.
Plug your pen holder into your cameo and start :-).

Silhouette gel pens

Do you find the pen holder too difficult to work with? Then you also have the gel pens from silhouette.

These are small thick gel pens that fit perfectly in your cameo without an extra holder.

They come in plenty of colors, but the only downside. They are a lot more pricey and you can only use gel pens, so yellow pencil or stylo, …
Creating the card

Making a simple card is incredibly easy with the gel pens and pen holder. You upload an image into your software. Select “cardstock” as material and then instead of cutting you can choose “sketch” and go for pen. Press send and you can create a super simple card for any occasion.

Finish it by writing a nice text inside (also with the cameo) this font is called “Rhapsody Sketch”. You can find many other beautiful fonts in the library.
And another great idea to spruce up your card is to add something nice with the money you put in it. In my case I folded a heart for my niece. I will post a tutorial of this as soon as possible.

As you can see, sometimes less is more. A simple card can be sufficient and does not have to take much time.
I found the images I used for my cards via Google. It is best to choose a black line drawing, as these are the easiest to trace.
Good luck.
