Hello,

in my previous message I had started on a (semi-self-designed) dress for my daughter. Last night I finally finished it. Maybe not everything is according to the rules of the art, but I am very proud of the final end result, knowing that there is no second child walking around with this dress anywhere.

It was also my first time working with flock foil, and it was not very pleasant at first. On the contrary. The package I bought in Veritas didn’t really have any instructions for use, just cut it and iron it on for 30 seconds on cotton setting. So with ironing on I also assume that I have to make an ironing motion and not just hold your iron still. So it’s not ironing on but “PRESSING”.

The result was a large stripe of dark glue across my dress and the flock foil was stuck to my iron….

Luckily all’s well that ends well, I pressed all the figures (which I cut out by hand) with a kitchen towel. And then added some fantasies over the glue stain.

Curious? Here are the pictures of the finish.

Apply bias tape again to the back.

Tuck the press studs under the bias tape

And stitch the bias tape in place, not always easy so close to the press studs.

Finishing with flock foil cut by hand.

Dress AF, bad lighting for a good photo …

It looks a lot nicer in real life.

And the back 🙂

Today the daughter puts it on to visit family, curious about the reactions…

Only 7 weeks to go until delivery (hopefully) and at least 2 more things to make.

  • baby sleeping bag (finished)
  • dress with bias and flock foil for my daughter (finished)
  • wrap blanket
  • crawling suit
  • full set for my daughter (A-line dress or tunic + pants + vest)
