I finally managed to continue working on my wrapping blanket. And today I finished it. It’s the first time I’ve made something like this, and I didn’t really stick to Kallou’s working method.
At Kallou they work with 1 or max 2 layers, I worked with 3 layers of fabric. And they work with bias or piping, since I was just working up leftover fabric and didn’t want to add any extra money, I did the finishing in a completely different way. I simply applied the technique I used for my crib cover.
Last time I already cut most of the fabric pieces, so this time it’s mainly about sewing the fabric pieces and the finished blanket together.

If you work according to my method, you must first of all place the pieces of fabric on top of each other correctly, you do this with all parts, I have only shown 1 here.

The correct order is: interlining (wattine), on top of that the part of the inner lining with the right side up, and on top of that the outer fabric with the right side down.

You mark carefully from where to where you need to stitch the parts together, so only stitch where nothing else needs to be attached together (i.e. the loose parts).

This is topstitched, now just turn it over…

This is the result if you turn it inside out. You can only see the sides that I have sewn in place.
_CDL_MASK_71__I also only finished the loose sides of the cap and feet. Topstitch inside out, turn over and then topstitch again half a cm from the edge.
_CDL_MASK_82__Attach the parts together with the inner lining on the outside.

Topstitching …

… and flip

And done 🙂
Except for the buttonholes for the straps. It turns out that the buttonhole foot is not big enough :-/

Another thing that can be crossed off one’s to-do list 😀
- baby sleeping bag (finished)
- dress with bias and flock foil for my daughter (finished)
- wrap blanket (almost af)
- crawling suit)
- complete set for my daughter (A-line dress or tunic + pants + cardigan)
I wonder if I’ll make it, because I have some nice fabrics and so many new ideas that I think I can add a whole list to my list.
Anyway, until next time.
